Ingredients

• ½ cup white sugar
• ½ cup packed brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• ½ teaspoon baking soda
• ¾ cup shortening
• 1 cup rolled oats
• ½ cup flaked coconut
• 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
• 1 cup gumdrops, halved

Recipe Instructions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).

Step 2

Cream together the first 5 ingredients.

Step 3

Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Fold in gumdrops.

Step 4

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or just until golden brown
