Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Step 2
Beat egg whites in a glass, metal, or ceramic bowl with an electric mixer until foamy. Beat in 2 cups sugar and cream of tartar on medium speed until stiff peaks form. Fold in cracker pieces, walnuts, and vanilla; spread into the bottom of a 9x13-inch pan.
Step 3
Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Cool.
Step 4
Mix cream cheese and remaining ½ cup sugar in a medium bowl; fold in whipped topping. Spread cream cheese mixture onto cooled crust.
Step 5
Whisk boiling water and gelatin together in a medium bowl until gelatin dissolved; mix in frozen strawberries. Set aside for 15 minutes; pour strawberry mixture over cream cheese layer, cover, and chill until ready to serve.

  • 0.75 cup chopped walnuts
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.75 teaspoon cream of tartar
