Sugar Cookies V

This quick, easy recipe delivers classic sugar cookies great for Christmas decorating, but really for anytime you need a sugar cookie!

Ingredients

• 2 eggs
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 cup butter
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 1 cup white sugar
• 4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup shortening
• 1 cup confectioners' sugar
• 1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Recipe Instructions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Step 2

Cream together sugars, shortening and butter. Mix in the eggs and mix well.

Step 3

Stir in flour, cream of tartar and baking soda. Stir in vanilla and salt and stir until well blended.

Step 4

Roll dough into walnut sized balls. Flatten with glass bottom dipped in sugar. Bake for 10 minutes.
